And I don't have an addiction. I only ordered something for my son and for Baby Boy Killen. Two things. That was it. So far anyway.

And in this corner, weighing in at around 15 pounds....
Last night I had a fighter. Blake was just too overtired and I was trying to get him to take a nap at about 6:00 p.m. He had a good one that morning but had been fighting a nap all afternoon. He took a cat nap while I put the jumperoo together but nothing of a significant, put the baby in a good mood nature. He usually takes a little nap around 6:00 p.m. for a bit of a break. Last night he fought that nap til a good 7:30 p.m. He fought every trick I had and came back with a better trick of his own. Finally, after a long drawn out battle in the time to take a nap ring, I finally got him down.
Now at this point I was hoping he would just take a nice 30 minute cat nap because I knew he was not down for the night. I know this boy, and he may go down with a fight, but he will bounce right back up. He usually is down for the night at around 9:30. I have tried to get him down earlier, but it just ends up being a struggle, where if I just start around 9:00, it works out so much better. But last night, he didn't wake up from his nap until about 8:45, and the minute he woke up, he was still fussy, which I guess worked in my favor a bit because I knew he was still tired. I was just hoping that I didn't have to go through that whole fight all over again. All I could think about when he woke up was "Round 2. Ding, ding, ding."
It turns out that he did just nurse and pretty much go right back to sleep, though he woke a lot earlier than usual this morning, but that's fine by me so long as he got a good night of sleep.

Putting together the jumperoo
So what do I decide to do today while Matt is at work? I mean other than go to the grocery store, vacuum, dust, do the dishes and throw my yummy chicken taco prep into the crock pot. I decided to put together the jumperoo because Blake is holding himself extremely well and his legs are so strong, these arms need a little bit of a break now and then. I think I did a pretty good job. The only part that stumped me in the directions was the seat. I feel like the directions could have been a little more clear in that aspect, but a few tries and I figured it out. Maybe they should hire me as the person to write the directions out. That could be my next job!
We haven't tried it yet because he is in the process of taking a nap, but as soon as he wakes and is fed and happy, we are going to give it a go! See pictures below for a view of part of the process.

Meltdown Down Under
We officially had our first public meltdown last night. We had gone to Outback to eat with my parents, my brother, his wife, and their daughter. My parents had gone early to get a table because there is always a wait at the Outback in Cool Springs, it doesn't matter if you go at 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. We didn't have to wait very long for a table once we got there. Blake was asleep when we first arrived, but he woke up about the moment we got seated.
All was good for a little bit. He was very good, patient and taking in all the sights and sounds. It just took forever for us to order and get our food, and I noticed he was starting to get fidgety before our food had even arrived. I tried to head it off, because I knew what was coming. I got him out of his seat and passed him around the table because everyone wanted to hold him. He started getting fussy, so I took him to the women's room to change him and that is where it all spirals downhill. First off, the changing table was all jacked up, so we had to change him on one side of it and that does not make for a happy baby. I stripped him of his pants because he gets hot so easily, he is just like his father in that aspect. It was only a matter of seconds before he went into a full out scream. He goes 0 to 60 faster than any car out there.
I tried everything. He had been changed, I had taken off his pants in the event they were making him hot, my mom tried walking and bouncing with him, I tried the Wubbanub. I tried toys, I tried nursing him in the disgusting floor of the bathroom. Nursing usually does the trick but he was too far gone into madville. Then I tried the bottle of my milk that I had brought with me because I figured if he could just taste the milk then maybe that would calm him down. No such luck. I had exhausted every trick in the book that I had available at my disposal.
Finally, I had my mom go and get his car seat. I put him in, and he was still screaming mad, and gave him his Wubbanub and had everyone pack up my food (Matt had gotten to eat his food by this time, which shows you how long I was in the bathroom) and we left. He fought sleep the whole ride home, and I let him have my hand which finally comforted him enough for him to fall asleep.
He woke up about ten minutes after we got home, and was happy as can be. He was smiling, playing and talking. I got to eat my cheeseburger and sweet potato fries at home but I did miss that half a glass of pinot noir that was still sitting at the restaurant. The irony is that I could have used that half a glass after that fiasco.
That was his first official public meltdown. I am sure it was only the first of many.

3 Month pictures!!
We had our 3 month pictures today at Harmony Designs Photography studio in Cummings Station in downtown Nashville this morning. Technically, they are a couple of weeks later than three months, but I was trying to give him some tummy time experience before the shoot. I am so excited to see the pictures because I think they are going to turn out really great. April Hollingsworth always does such a fantastic job, so if you are ever looking for someone to do family shots, wedding, newborn, etc., she's your girl.
I am really excited because we did a lobster theme on one during his newborn shots and have decided to carry on our "lobstah" theme on one of the shots during this session. I have become a big fan of our stuffed lobstah sent to him by his Aunt Kellie Fenesan, which she got in Boston.
We also added in his Boston Red Sox green "monstah" toy that my friend Liz Laxton got him as well for one of the shots. I think it will be really cute. He was trying to eat the lobstah and the monstah while she was taking his picture.
Blake did really well for April through the shoot, until the very end, but he was getting hungry and ready for a nap.
All in all it was a really great shoot, and I can't wait to see the outcome. April has a beautiful studio, so it is always a pleasure going in there. Plus you are downtown and close to all the hip restaurants if you want to grab a bite to eat before or after. It was really nice to be downtown since it has been so long since I have been down there. After all the last time we had a family shoot, he was just a newborn and it was right after my emergency c-section so I wasn't really up to par yet. Those c-sections take a little while to heal. I thought I felt like my normal self at 8 weeks, but I realized at 12 weeks that it does take a good 12 weeks or so to actually feel better. I still have issues with the scar but that is a whole other blog that I won't force on you. So to sum it up, it was nice to be downtown on a sunny, beautiful day like today.
